Half-day training course for people working with vulnerable clients in financial difficulties who struggle to heat their homes or afford their household bills.

Domestic Energy Essentials is an energy advice training session, open to all and lasting 2.5 hours. It is designed to help individuals and organisations who work with low-income households at risk of fuel debt and cold homes.

The course is CPD certified, so you can be confident it’s of a high quality and valuable to build your understanding of fuel poverty and how to better support those you care for.

Attendees will learn to recognise the signs of fuel poverty and to direct people to an appropriate agency for further support to stay warm, healthy and out of debt.

Training is free to third-sector organisations (charities, the voluntary sector and other not-for-profit organisations). Otherwise, the training costs £39.50 per person, but we have a 2 for 1 offer running at the moment, making each ticket £19.75 if you buy two.

The next session is online on Wednesday 24 September (10:00am to 12:30pm), details can be found on our Eventbrite page. And another online session on Wednesday 3 December.

What the energy advice training will cover:

This training will be particularly valuable in view of the ongoing cost of living crisis where many households struggle to afford to heat their homes.

And even if your primary reason for supporting vulnerable clients is not about energy advice, there is bound to be something useful for you in this training.

About the trainer

Your trainer will be one of CSE’s caseworkers who helps people in vulnerable circumstances every day. They’ll have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share, drawing on their experience of providing support in ongoing and often complex situations. All of our energy advisors complete regular training so that they can provide the most up-to-date and helpful advice, which they’ll share with you.

For more information about the training, contact Lorna Wilcox (lorna.wilcox@cse.org.uk).
