National Grid Group Enabling Works Fund

The NGG Enabling Works Fund is designed to encourage more installations of grant-funded energy efficiency measures through the removal of barriers to installations such as inaccessible loft space or the removal of existing failed insulation.

In this way it supports households who cannot afford essential work not covered by grant funding.

The fund is administered by the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) on behalf of the National Grid Group (NGG).

Applications to the fund can be made by from installers and from organisations helping clients to improve home energy efficiency or accessing funding for energy efficiency measures.

You can apply easily by completing our online form. Please note that we must receive applications for this fund, and any further information we request, before 31 March 2026.

Why the Enabling Works Fund exists

Some affordable warmth schemes or help to heat schemes do not cover the cost of enabling works or other costs. This could include schemes like the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, the Warm Homes Local Grant (WHLG) or others.

Works that can supported through the fund include:

How does the fund work?

You can check if your client lives in the SSEN area using their postcode and SSEN’s look-up tool. Clients in all other areas of England and Wales are eligible for the NGG Enabling Works Fund.
