CSE Impact Report 2023-24
We’re thrilled to share our 2023-24 impact report, showcasing a year of unprecedented support for people struggling to keep warm at home and significant progress in the fight against fuel poverty and climate change.
In a year marked by economic challenges across the UK, CSE helped a record number of people struggling with their energy bills, collectively saving them more than £11.5m – a £4.5m increase from the previous year. This milestone really drives home how crucial our work is in supporting people in the most vulnerable circumstances and thousands of households across the UK.

Expanding our influence
It’s not just about the numbers, though. The report also highlights CSE’s expanding influence across various sectors including:
- Growth in home energy retrofit schemes, improving energy efficiency in more homes.
- Increased support for communities and local councils in fuel poverty and net zero programmes.
- Development of consumer archetypes for Ofgem to aid national policy design.
- Research for National Grid on the Demand Flexibility Service, building the case for its continuation.
Innovation and practical solutions
We’ve also been banging the drum for fairer energy policies. We’ve seen changes in national policy and regulation following our push for fairer tariffs, standing charges, and beefed-up customer service standards.
Meanwhile, we’re pretty chuffed about the launch of our tools like Solar Wizard, and the publication of our latest Smart and Fair report. It’s all part of our commitment to practical solutions and policy development because we believe that we can tackle the climate emergency and end fuel poverty at the same time.
With a new government open to change, we will continue to offer evidence, insight and practical recommendations for the programmes and policy changes needed to deliver warmer homes and a net zero energy system.
