How to make a draught excluder

Make your own draught excluder snake with our easy-to-follow instructions – you can use things lying around your home!

Draughty homes waste energy as warm air can escape through any gaps you have around your doors, windows, floorboards or even letterboxes and keyholes. Blocking these gaps will make your home feel warmer and reduce the amount of wasted energy.

This simple draught excluder will block the gap between your door and the floor. Using scrap materials and old household items, this ‘snake’ (or sausage dog, or cat!) stops cold air coming in under your door. And it doesn’t cost much to make and is fun to do.
