Heat networks

Heat networks are a key part of the UK’s net zero strategy, particularly in dense urban areas. Identifying where they make most sense requires sophisticated technical analysis.

We’ve built tools and models that help local authorities and consultants plan heat networks faster and more accurately.

THERMOS is our heat network planning tool. It uses advanced algorithms to identify optimal heat network solutions for any area within minutes. The tool estimates heat demand for every building and works out the best way to connect them. THERMOS is used across the UK, Europe and beyond.

We also developed the Heat Network Zoning model for the UK government’s Heat Network Zoning Pilot. This software combines high-resolution mapping with demand analysis and network optimisation to identify where heat network zones should be across 28 English cities and towns.

Both tools make heat network planning faster, more transparent and more cost-effective – freeing up resources for higher-value evaluation work.
