Turn your renewable energy idea into reality

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is connecting community groups across England with free expert advice, practical tools and hands-on support to make their community energy projects happen.

Launching in October 2025, we’ll be working with eligible groups who are in the early stages of developing a low-carbon or renewable energy initiative. Along with Ashden Climate Solutions, Community Energy England, and our network of trusted industry professionals, we’ll support groups with expert guidance to build capacity and help unlock funding.

The first project of its kind to cover the whole of England, we’re targeting areas with low community-energy activity to work towards energy justice across the country.

Drawing on our extensive experience in the sector and our strong partnerships, we’re offering:

• One-to-one advice from sector experts to assess ideas and improve viability.
• Support to develop strong funding applications.
• Guidance on governance, stakeholder engagement and planning.
• Webinars and group learning activities.
• Signposting to templates, tools and trusted professionals.
