Healthy Homes Dorset
A county-wide programme working with the council and local health services
Project duration: January 2017 to March 2021
Healthy Homes Dorset was a county-wide programme that offered free loft and cavity wall insulation and replacement heating systems to Dorset residents.
In addition to the free insulation services, the project offered expert advice and support to householders on how to keep their homes warm, save money on energy bills, and reduce damp, mould and condensation.
The programme focused particularly on those whose health was at risk through living in a cold home. Under-heated, cold homes are a major cause of ill-health and contribute significantly to pressures on the NHS, and while the UK rarely experiences extremely cold winters, every year more Britons die of cold-related illness than those in colder countries such as Sweden or Finland.
The service was funded by Public Health Dorset, designed and managed by Dorset council and delivered by CSE and Evolve Home Energy Solutions, and had its own website: healthyhomesdorset.org.uk. In April 2021, Healthy Homes Dorset was passed to Ridgewater Energy.
