Our Bright Future

Environmental project funding for young people

Project duration: November 2014 ongoing

Our Bright Future will see £30m of Big Lottery-funding invested across the UK to support young people (aged 11-24) to improve their local environments. CSE is proud to announce that we are part of a consortium, led by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, supporting this work.

A portfolio of 25-35 projects will be selected for the programme, each receiving funding of around £750,000 to £1 million.

The Our Bright Future portfolio will:

  • Make a significant change in the quality of our urban and rural environments.
  • Increase the ability of young people to improve places that are important to them and to influence the attitudes and decisions that shape their neighbourhoods and communities.
  • Catalyse change led by young people, by investing in both the direct improvement of the environment and the development of young people.

In its consortium role, CSE will be providing advice to applicants during the development phase on influencing local policy and planning frameworks, and any climate change, energy or fuel poverty considerations for project delivery. This builds particularly on our PlanLoCaL programme and Low Carbon Localism projects.

We’ll also be playing an active role in supporting the Field Studies Council to develop the evaluation of the overall programme.
