Exploring behaviour change with ARC
Hull’s Architecture and Built Environment Centre commissions bespoke course
Project duration: November 2011 to November 2011
Hull’s Architecture and Built Environment Centre (ARC) develops original educational projects focusing on architecture and the built environment for schools, communities and businesses. ARC staff were interested in building their knowledge of the psychology of people in buildings and spaces and so commissioned CSE to develop a bespoke training course for them.
CSE was happy to oblige and put together a day long course called 'Principles of Behaviour Change'. The course covered theories of behaviour and the practicalities of motivating behaviour change in community and organisational settings, including implementing energy and environmental management systems.
Nick Banks said "We drew heavily on CSE’s first hand experience of developing behaviour change programmes in the wild [i.e. 'in the real world'] and used a mix of presentations, workshop exercises and a case study delivered by Peter Phelps, energy manager at the University of Bath."
