‘Misguided and out of touch’ CSE responds to the government’s Energy Strategy

CSE’s Chief Executive, Simon Roberts, responds to the Energy Strategy released by the government.

Responding to today’s Energy Strategy from the government, Simon Roberts, CSE’s chief executive says: “This is possibly the most misguided and out of touch energy policy statement from a UK government this century. What we’ve seen so far won’t ever lower energy prices and won’t reduce our dependency on gas anytime soon.

“It risks slowing our progress to net zero and undermining energy security because the high stakes, long-shot bet on nuclear will distract policy makers and money from what we really need to be doing.  The strategy is lacking what should have been at its heart – a sustained and scaled-up drive to insulate homes and help people and businesses manage and reduce their energy demand.”
