Bright Green Future, applications now open for youth empowerment programme

10 February 2022

Applications are now open to join our Bright Green Future (BGF) programme this April 2022. BGF is a free six-month environmental training programme for 16-19-year-olds from Black, brown and other minority ethnic backgrounds in the UK.

The programme aims to empower the next generation with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a difference in the world, whatever they choose to do after the programme.
Through a residential and group project, BGF students can connect with other young people who are passionate about creating positive change. We also offer career webinars for the students to gain insight from people using sustainability knowledge and values into their jobs. All students get the option to have mentoring with someone from the BGF alumni network – a thriving group of past BGF students who also run events and coordinate meet ups.

Here’s what a previous BGF student said about the positive impact of the programme: “I feel like I can have a huge impact. I know one person can change the world. I feel that BGF has given me more tools to my belt so I can approach more issues and tackle things in new ways so that a better solution can be brought about.”

Looking ahead to our next cohort, Roy Kareem, Programme Director says “We're delighted to open applications for a new group of students to start with us this Spring. We've been on an incredible journey over the last five years. More than 200 students have gone through the programme during that time. Their feedback has shown us that BGF influenced them to incorporate sustainability in their choice of a future career. We can't wait to get going with the new group in Spring!”
