Round 5 of Power Partners offers grants of up to £20,000 for fuel poverty initiatives

6 September 2021

Not-for-profit organisations and community groups are invited to apply for grants of between £2,000 and £20,000 for initiatives that combat fuel poverty or support people in vulnerable circumstances by increasing their energy resilience.

The cash is available thanks to UK Power Networks who have launched Round 5 of their Power Partners funding programme. Applications are now open and the deadline for applications is 25 October 2021.

CSE's Vic Wakefield-Jarrett is administrating the fund. "We've administered Power Partners since Round 1 in January 2019 and are delighted to be continuing our relationship with UKPN. This time we're inviting applications for a wide range of services including – but not limited to – income maximisation, tariff switching, time-of-use tariff awareness, new registrations for the Priority Services Register, energy advice training and support for frontline workers.

"This funding is a unique opportunity for organisations to respond to the needs of individuals or communities with specific vulnerabilities –  those resulting from Covid-19, for example. And we'd particularly like to hear from organisations with proposals that demonstrate an innovative response to the increasingly pressing challenge of fuel poverty."

All applicants need to show how funding will deliver new activity in the UK Power Networks area (London, the South East, East of England, click here for details) and particularly supports:

  • Hard-to-reach or seldom-heard communities.
  • People in vulnerable circumstances or in properties with low energy efficiency rating.
  • People living in areas with high levels of deprivation.

The funders are looking for projects that address fuel poverty, increase energy awareness, reduce energy demand or access the benefits associated with low carbon technologies and smart tariffs, that could be recognised as best practice or innovative and that can be replicated or scaled up.

UK Power Networks have been working closely with their partners to keep improve the Power Partners fund year on year. They are keen to understand from local organisations what is changing in the communities they serve to ensure the funding can support projects which make a real difference to people who need help the most.
