Bristol Green Doors launch online Retrofit Stories events
Since the postponement in May of the Bristol Green Doors weekend in light of Covid-19, the team have been working with home owners to find a way to deliver the benefits of the event in a more virtual way.
We’re delighted to announce the date of the first event in our ‘Bristol Green Doors Retrofit Stories’ series. These interactive online home tours allow attendees to virtually explore homes which have been made more energy efficient, comfortable and kinder to the environment.
Home owners will provide a guided tour of the features and measures they’ve installed to reduce heat loss, save energy or even generate their own; explaining along the way their motivations, decisions and challenges they came across.
Date: Thursday 18 June 18:00-19.30pm
The first retrofit story
Our first story is from Simon and Vicky, who over a number of years have undertaken an extensive retrofit of their 1950’s detached family home in Sea Mills.
The installation of solar PV, Electric Vehicle charging port, cavity wall insulation and LED lighting has turned this property into a comfortable family home with extremely low bills, economic transport and a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
Simon has recorded a series of short videos guiding viewers around the various measures they’ve installed. Attendees are encouraged to watch them before attending the event, and make a note of any questions, as there will be plenty of opportunity to ask Simon to share more of his personal experience and knowledge about the process.
Bristol Green Doors events are delivered as part of our Futureproof initiative.
Futureproof offers much needed, free, independent and impartial support to help homeowners and builders in the West of England carry out energy saving home improvements, retrofit and refurbishments. You can find out more about Futureproof here.
