Marking a milestone

100,000! That’s the number of clients our advice team has helped since 2012 with free, impartial, energy saving advice to stay warm and reduce their energy bills.
It’s a huge milestone and during a period of extraordinary uncertainty and upheaval, it feels good to have such a positive achievement to celebrate.
On 6 April 2020, Mr Wood was referred to CSE by his network operator, Western Power Distribution. Like many people during the COVID-19 crisis, he was looking for advice to help him access essential services.
We asked him to share his story to give an idea of how the service helped him:
“I wasn’t sure what I was going to do when I was told to stay at home and self-isolate. I had concerns for my own income and my families and wasn’t sure where to get good advice.
"Lorna helped me understand what support was available and gave some very helpful advice about what benefits were available for our family situation. She also gave me a route for further support with managing my finances and ensured that I had access to whatever I needed at this uncertain time.
"I’m really grateful for the support from the team at CSE and for Western Power Distribution for reaching out to their vulnerable customers to make sure we are able to access whatever support we needed.”

Celebrating our wonderful advice team
It has to be acknowledged that this isn’t the first 100,000th client our team has helped. In fact we’ve provided high-quality, tailored energy advice to something close to 350,000 people since CSE’s advice service was born in 1980 – but until 2012 we were delivering an advice service on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust who kept all the data so the exact number could only be estimated.
We’re endlessly grateful to our wonderful team of advisors, who work tirelessly to provide free, impartial, energy saving advice to help people stay warm and safe at home and reduce their energy bills.
And they’re working harder than ever during the current crisis. The team wasted no time ensuring they could continue to support households – phones were redirected, equipment delivered to those in isolation, a mountain of technical hitches were overcome – and CSE’s advice line didn’t miss a beat.
