Bright Green Future: 2018 applications open
Young people urged to step up, be heard and take action
24 April 2018
Are you passionate about the environment and want to have your voice heard?
Bright Green Future is an environmental leadership programme for 14-17 year olds who want to create a more sustainable future for our planet, learn about climate change and environmental protection, gain confidence and meet like-minded people.
The Bright Green Future programme is made up of four main elements: training, a local project, work placement and a short residential summer school. Each young person on the programme is assigned a mentor to help them find a work placement and organise their project.
Applications for Bright Green Future are now open. For more details, download the guidance document from Join Us page of the Bright Green Future website.
This is the third year that the programme has run, and feedback from young people currently on the programme are very positive: "Being a part of Bright Green Future has opened up my eyes to the world" said Lisa, one of last year's participants.
Programme manager, Roy Kareem, says "This is a unique opportunity to learn more about sustainability and local environmental decision making. It's empowering, educational and fun.
"It's been a privilage to have met and worked with the inspiring young people who joined Bright Green Future in the past two years, and I'm looking forward to more of the same in 2018 when we'll be welcoming another 60 to the programme."
We’re looking for motivated and reliable young people who:
- Care for the environment and have an interest in sustainability.
- Are enthusiastic about gaining new skills and knowledge.
- Are able to create and participate in a local project.
- Are willing to commit time outside of school to the BGF programme.
