We’re looking for volunteers in Wiltshire

Can you help us deliver a home energy advice project?

7 January 2016

CSE is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help to deliver our home energy advice project across Wiltshire. The role will involve working with vulnerable clients, often elderly or disabled, offering them advice and support on keeping warm and healthy in their homes and lowering their energy bills.

Do you fit the bill?

Volunteers can help us in a number of different ways and you will be free to choose how you get involved depending on what you find most interesting or enjoyable. Some of the things volunteers can help us with include:

  • Accompanying advisors on visits to people’s homes to provide advice on energy saving improvements and managing energy costs
  • Helping people to take advantage of any grants or funding that may be available to help them lower their energy bills and keep warm in their home
  • Helping to organise and support staff with delivering or attending local events
  • Giving talks to local groups e.g. lunch clubs

No experience is necessary and you will be given basic training on energy efficiency in the home and how to give the best advice. You’ll also receive lots of 'on the job' training while out and about with our advisors.

We expect our volunteers to have an interest in environmental issues and climate change and/or supporting local people in need. Opportunities to volunteer will be available across Wiltshire and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

And we aim to make it fun and rewarding for volunteers, too. David, a volunteer on one of our projects in Bristol, said “Friendly atmosphere, supportive staff, engaging work. It felt like I was making a difference by being there.”

If you’d like to get involved, please come along to one of our no obligation free induction and training sessions later this month:

Tuesday 26 January |10.00 – 14.00 | Corsham | Click for details
Tuesday 2 February | 10.00 – 14.00 | Salisbury | Click for details

A buffet lunch will be included as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. Travel costs to the venue (excluding taxis) and car parking expenses will be reimbursed.

If you have any questions please email volunteers@cse.org.uk

CSE is pleased to be working in partnership with Wiltshire Council and Fire Service on this project. More details here.
