Green Open Homes is going strong

2015 in numbers

22 December 2015

The Green Open Homes network has entered its third year and is as strong as healthy as ever. Some impressive totals were racked up in 2015, as 37 events showcased 457 homes and drew in over 10,000 visitors.

James Watt manages the network at CSE. He said, “Although we made smaller grant awards than last year the network continues to flourish and new events spring up all the time. The strength of the network is that knowledge and resources can be shared between organisers, so it’s never a case of stepping into the unknown.

“Repeat events still attract hoards of visitors and reach new audiences every year. This is fantastic, and is testament to how effective the open homes model is.”

How do the visitors feel?

“I learned so much, saw some amazing properties and met some lovely people. I found it totally inspirational,” commented one visitor to East Yorkshire Green Open Homes.

And based on these statistics, most are positive about their experience and are likely to make changes as a result of their visit.

  • 97% said that they found their visit useful
  • 65% said that they would now try and go away and install energy saving or low carbon products in their own home
  • 72% said they would try to save energy at home by changing their habits

This is great news for anyone considering an event in 2016. If you do run one, be sure to promote it with a page on the network’s site. This year, there were a massive 22,000 visitors to www.greenopenhomes.net.
