Energy advice for Arabic speakers

Help us spread the word about our new resources

14 October 2015

Four of our most popular advice fact sheets are now available in Modern Standard Arabic.
Preventing damp and mould
Night storage heaters
Central heating controls
Reading gas and electricity meters

We have already translated our advice leaflets into Polish, Somali, and easy-read English as part of our efforts to make our advice materials accessible to more people. The first two languages are widely spoken in Bristol, where translation services are also in high demand for hundreds of Arabic-speaking households.

Ian Preston, CSE's Head of Household and Energy Services, said: “From focus groups with local people whose first language is not English, we learnt that fuel poverty and debt is a huge concern and that it is partly a language issue. Our new resources will be really valuable in addressing these problems.”

If you have connections with Arabic-speaking communities we'd really appreciate you sharing these resources within your network.
