Energy advice in Polish
Translations of some of our most-used fact sheets
22 July 2015
Our Polish leaflets are translations of the printed advice we give on four of the most popular home energy topics. They are free to download from our website. We would greatly appreciate help raising awareness of them among Polish communities.
The PDF downloads can be accessed here: cse.org.uk/advice-leaflets-in-other-languages. Please share the link.
In the 2011 census, Polish was recorded as the most commonly spoken foreign language in Bristol (our hometown and where we carry out much of our outreach work). There is a large Polish community in the city, which has grown considerably since Poland joined the European Union, giving its citizens the right to work in the UK. Migrant workers may be unaware of their housing rights and so face exploitation by landlords and issues around substandard accommodation (where problems with damp and mould and cheap-to-install night storage heaters are commonplace). They may also be unfamiliar with heating systems and controls that are unique to the UK. We hope that these leaflets can help remedy some of the most widespread problems to make homes warmer and healthier.
We welcome feedback (both positive and negative!) on the usefulness of the leaflets, any corrections needed, and on which other advice topics would be most beneficial if translated into Polish. Any comments, please drop Cat a line.
Lastly, we'd like to say a massive thank you to Sylwia and Rhianne at Talking Money, who kindly recommended topics for us to translate and proofread the final documents.
