Smart prepayment meters: when, where and what are the benefits?

“Smart prepayment meters are right for many of our clients” was the consensus at the end of our recent training session on the technology.  Last week's EU-funded USmart Consumer event had representatives from housing associations, local authorities and energy and advice organisations.

First on the programme was an update on the UK smart meter rollout from Fflur Lawton, Smart Meter GB’s Head of Policy and Communications Wales. Next, participants explored what smart prepayment meters can offer households at risk of fuel poverty in particular, but also their potential appeal to a broad energy customer base.
