Bristol Community Building Fund opens
Make your community centre lean and green!
22 August 2014
If your village hall is draughty, your community centre costs a fortune to run, or your scout hut's heating system is from the stone age, make an application to the Bristol Community Building Fund!
Thanks to Bristol City Council, we are offering more funds to local voluntary groups to make their community buildings greener and cheaper to run.
The Bristol Community Building Fund offers local voluntary groups up to £4,000 to improve the energy efficiency of their community building by getting improvements like better insulation, a heating system upgrade, or more efficient windows and doors. We've run a similar scheme (the WPD Community Chest) three times in the past in partnership with Western Power Distribution. This time, the emphasis is on the city's communal spaces - the Bristol Community Building Fund is open to groups within the Bristol City Council local authority area.
We're open to applications from 1 September. Funds will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and we have £20,000 in total to give away, so get your application in quickly before the money is all claimed.
To apply, you need to do a simple energy audit of your building to see what needs doing, decide which improvements you'd like to make, get some quotes, and then fill in a short application form. The energy audit, application form and all the instructions are all available to download on this page.
