CSE wins in Mendip council ’Building Excellence Awards’

’Great recognition for the work CSE staff have done in Mendip’

16 April 2013

We’re delighted to have won the ‘Best Private Sector Housing Partner’ prize in Mendip District Council’s Building Excellence Awards for 2013. Nominations for the awards, now in their sixth year, come from Council staff and this category is new for 2013.

In giving this award, the judges recognised that CSE has given valuable support to the council on sustainable energy across many different areas, from research to advice and community outreach. This includes:

The award was presented to CSE’s chief executive Simon Roberts who had earlier given a key-note speech on the Green Deal to the 250-300 people gathered for the awards ceremony in Glastonbury Town Hall.

“This is great recognition for the work CSE’s staff have been doing with Mendip. We’ve been sharing our knowledge and practical experience to support the Council and local people to use energy more wisely and to realise the economic opportunities and social benefits of insulating homes better and installing renewable energy. It’s been a very positive partnership from our perspective too so we’re really pleased the feelings are mutual.”

In all we reckon at least a dozen members of CSE staff have worked on projects in partnership with Mendip District Council in the past 12 months. See some of them in celebratory mood, below.

Mendip is one of five district authorities in the county of Somerset. We are currently working with all the district councils, plus the unitary authorities of North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset on Our Green Deal.
