Apply for a Youth Climate Action Fund grant



The Youth Climate Action Fund is a grant programme from Bloomberg Philanthropies that supports young people to take climate action in their cities. Bristol City Council has secured funding from the Youth Climate Action Fund to provide grants to organisations in Bristol.

The Centre for Sustainable Energy is administering the grants on behalf of the City Council.

Your organisation can apply for between £800 and £3,500 to fund a youth project in Bristol. The project must be new and not a continuation of an existing project. It must take place within the Bristol City Council area.

To be eligible, the project must fulfil four criteria:

  1. Project is primarily led and implemented by youth between the ages of 15 and 24.
  2. The organisation proposing the project is legally recognised or partnering with a legally recognised organisation (see application form for more details).
  3. The application is complete.
  4. The expenses in the proposed budget align with the One City Climate Strategy (see summary here).

To be led and implemented by youth, your project should include one or more of the following:

The possibilities for creative and inspiring projects are boundless and might include: awareness-raising, education or research initiatives; climate mitigation and adaptation; or involvement in governance of local climate action plans.

The deadline to apply is 5pm on Monday 15 July 2024. You will find out if you were successful by 5pm on Friday 19 July 2024.

Projects must be completed and funds must be spent by 31 December 2024.
