More second-round crowd-funding required for Bristol hydro scheme
16 October 2019
Bristol Energy Co-operative’s hydro-electrical scheme at Netham Weir is nearing its second fundraising target of £30,000 after a second round of crowd-funding was launched in September.
This second funding push has now increased the total raised for the innovative project to £21,501. Nonetheless, more support is absolutely vital: if the scheme is to go ahead at all, it must reach the £30,000 mark by 28th October.
The project plans to use the only hydro site in central Bristol and supply clean electricity to local businesses in the commercial area. Having missed out on the last of the Feed-in-Tariffs, this project aims to be Bristol Energy Coop's first unsubsidised large energy project and the first UK unsubsidised hydro scheme for many years.
