Bristol hydro-electric scheme first crowdfunding target reached!

20 August 2019

Bristol Energy Cooperative’s hydro-electric scheme in Netham Weir in Bristol has raised a total of £18,352 with 189 supporters in 28 days! A series of further raises are planned over the coming months with an aim of raising a total £65,000 to complete all development work and proceed to the construction phase.

The project plans to use the only hydro site in central Bristol and supply clean electricity to local businesses in the commercial area. Having missed out on the last of the Feed-in-Tariffs, this project aims to be Bristol Energy Coop's first unsubsidised large energy project and probably the first UK unsubsidised hydro scheme for many years.
