Warm Home Discount

The Warm Home Discount (WHD) is a government scheme whereby all except the smallest energy suppliers are required to give an annual rebate to customers on low incomes.

Applications are now open for the winter of 2017-18.

The £140 rebate is payable to a core group of customers who 1) are in receipt of the guaranteed element of Pension Credit on 9 July 2017, 2) whose name (or partner's name) appears on the household's electricity bill, and 3) whose energy supplier is part of the scheme.

The Warm Home Discount is also paid to a broader group of customers according to criteria based on age, the benefits claimed by the household, or the household income, and family circumstances. The criteria vary from supplier to supplier.

Customers from the core group who qualify for the discount will get a letter in the autumn or winter telling them either that they get the discount automatically or that they need to apply - the letter will explain why and how.

CSE's Home Energy Team will be on hand to help people in Bristol, Dorset, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Somerset assess their eligibility and guide them through the application process.
