Warm Home Discount
The Warm Home Discount (WHD) is a government scheme whereby all except the smallest energy suppliers are required to give an annual rebate to customers on low incomes.
The £140 rebate is payable to a core group of customers who 1) are in receipt of the guaranteed element of Pension Credit on 7 July 2019, 2) whose name (or partner's name) appears on the household's electricity bill, and 3) whose energy supplier is part of the scheme.
The Warm Home Discount is also paid to a broader group of customers according to criteria based on age, the benefits claimed by the household, or the household income, and family circumstances. The criteria vary from supplier to supplier.
Customers from the core group who qualify for the discount will receive a letter between October and December 2020 telling them either that they get the discount automatically or that they need to apply - the letter will explain why they qualify and how to apply. The letter will say if you need to call a helpline by 26 February 2021 to confirm
CSE's Home Energy Team are on hand to help people in Bristol, Dorset, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Somerset assess their eligibility and guide them through the application process.
So if you think you're eligible for the core group but didn't get a letter, want more detail on how to apply, a full list of suppliers participating in the scheme, or any other questions...
