Bristol Energy Action Network (BEAN)
Developing and delivering accessible and appropriate energy advice services in Bristol
The Bristol Energy Action Network (BEAN) promotes affordable and sustainable energy use across Bristol through awareness raising, networking, training, and the delivery of an insulation grant scheme.
BEAN has been running since early 2000 providing advice to Bristol residents on how to save energy at home. The numbers of households who have been helped by the project is estimated to be around 40,000.
Advice is provided through trained energy advisors attending events, delivering presentations, providing training to partner organisation staff such as health professionals, holding advice stands at businesses and over the phone through the Energy Saving Trust advice centre for the South West. Outreach activity is focussed in areas of high fuel poverty with the aim of advising and educating those most in need.
This works alongside the Bristol Energy Efficiency Scheme (BEES) a city wide grant scheme that aims to reach vulnerable households or those living in fuel poverty. It offers free and discounted insulation to help lower fuel bills and make the home a warmer, healthier and more comfortable environment.
The criteria for this scheme is very generous. Please go to the Bristol section of our grants pages to see what grant you are likely to receive and to register your interest.
