Talking about energy

Since our mission is to 'change the way people think and act on energy' it is no surprise that many of our projects are all about communication

Communications

Whether it’s giving energy advice, encouraging dialogue between wind developers and communities, spreading the word about energy efficiency, exploring new ways of communicating the issues of climate change, running workshops and training sessions - how we communicate is critical to our success.

But it certainly isn’t all about press releases, adverts, glossy publications or websites (though we have done all of these). We also value personal contact. We go out and about, meeting people face to face in the community, the office, the high street, the classroom.

We also know that communication is a two-way street so we’ve learnt to listen. We take the time to understand what people’s priorities are and what motivates them. There’s no point banging on about climate change to people who find the ‘green’ message tiresome. And we don’t talk about saving energy to someone who cannot afford to heat their home properly.

And let’s face it: cavity wall insulation isn’t exactly exciting, so if our projects can encourage thousands of people to take this step, we must be doing something right!

Many of the projects we undertake have a significant communications element. Click on the links to see the websites we produce for:

We have a YouTube Channel and a Twitter feed (@cse_bristol), and you can see photos of our events and projects (and even what goes on in the car park outside the office) on our Flickr photostream.

We also have good in-house graphic design and print production skills which we utilise in Energise, our once-every-few-months newsletter, and our advice leaflets.
