Grants available in Bristol & Somerset
Bristol Energy Efficiency Scheme
Open to residents of Bristol City Council only, this scheme offers free cavity wall and loft insulation to households (including privately rented homes) containing anyone over 60 or under 16 or those in receipt of certain benefits. For everyone else the measures are heavily discounted at just £95 for each measure.

Warm Streets
Open to residents of Somerset only (local authority areas Sedgemoor, West Somerset, Mendip, Taunton Deane, South Somerset, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset), Warm Streets offers free cavity wall and loft insulation to households (including privately rented homes) containing anyone over 70 or those in receipt of certain benefits. Households on a low income with low savings may also be eligible for free measures. Households that do not meet any of these criteria will still be eligible for heavily subsidized insulation. Additional energy efficiency measures may also be available and a benefits check can be carried out on request.

Sedgemoor and West Somerset Home Improvement Programmes
These two programmes are aimed at the over 60s and those with a disability, but applicants do not need to be on benefits. Council and housing association tenants are not eligible. The service can offer assistance or advice even if the person does not qualify for a grant.

Wessex Home Improvement Loans
This is a low-interest home improvement loan for home owners with low incomes. Up to £15,000 can be borrowed for repairs and improvements needed to bring the home up to the ‘decent homes standard’ and may include central heating installation, treatment of damp, roof repairs etc. Applicants must live in South Glos, B&NES, Mendip, North Somerset, Sedgemoor, South Somerset, Taunton or West Somerset.
