Energy advice diary

Delivering energy advice at a local level

As well as giving tailored energy advice over the phone our advisors like to get out into the community and talk to people face to face.

We can be found at large county shows and small local community events, in shopping centres, town centres and sport centres, in flu jab clinics and at festivals, carnivals and fetes. In fact anywhere where people gather.

If you're in the area and have an energy related question that's been bugging you, or you just want to meet some of the team, then please come and visit us.

Finally, a case study of a 'typical' outreach event

On Wednesday 9 February CSE was invited to present at a solar PV evening organised by Quantock Eco – a community group promoting environmental action in their locality. The group are members of the  Warm Streets Communities programme, which offers cash payments and/or in-kind support in exchange for referrals to the Warm Streets insulation scheme.

Attendees learned about the technical aspects, user experiences, and an accountant’s perspective of the financial implications of the feed-in tariff – with CSE providing an overview of key considerations when installing PV and a comparison with other energy saving alternatives. The evening started with a community fish and chip supper, preceding a series of presentations from different experts in the field and a reasonably animated Q&A session.

With a turn out of 98, the event drew more than double the expected audience, with last minute hopefuls being turned away due to lack of space. There was fantastic feedback from all who participated, too, and the evening was a huge success and a credit to the organisers. CSE is looking forward to maintaining the relationship with Quantock Eco.
