CSE adapts eco-game for working in schools
2 July 2009
An Every Action Counts game designed to help organisations prioritise their environmental actions has been specially adapted by CSE’s Rebecca Waite for Eco School action teams. And it will soon be heading into schools across the former Avon and Somerset region.
CSE has recently received 50 packs of the adapted Every Action Counts games which will be available for Bristol Eco Schools on request, and subject to availability.
The game contains a series of cards relating to energy, recycling, school grounds, school travel and global dimension. These are used by school eco teams as part of a democratic decision-making exercise for creating or updating the school’s environmental action plan.
Gaynor Lewis is the Education Project Manager at CSE: “The resource has already been piloted with teachers and action teams, showing that the cards and game rules have enabled all pupils to be involved in discussion and decision-making.”
She added: “The pilot also found the game is particularly useful in prioritising pupils’ ideas into the various action plans.”
The free resource was distributed to the Eco Schools at the last networking meeting at Cheddar Grove Primary School on 25 June.
