Record numbers of teachers given boost for energy lessons

2 April 2009

More than 100 teachers have been taught about the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the past few months, as part of CSE's education project ëEnergy in the Countryside'.

Supported by Ernest Cook Trust, the project has seen teachers trained at countryside locations, including Yeo Valley, Goblin Combe and Longleat.

As well as energy efficiency and renewable energy in school buildings, topics have also included eco schools with a particular emphasis on its energy components. Through the process, teachers were equipped to take the energy saving message back into their schools throughout Somerset and Wiltshire.

A total of 30 workshops for children will now follow the initial teacher training at several venues: Folly Farm, Yeo Valley, Charterhouse and Goblin Combe.

The project has helped to establish a working partnership with Goblin Combe, Yeo Valley and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
