Short films on climate change and energy made by groups of Bristol youngsters can now be viewed on-line

A series of short films on climate change and energy made this summer by schoolchildren in and around Bristol can now be viewed over the internet.
Kate Richardson from CSE's education team worked alongside children from four schools (two primary, two secondary), the Natural History Consortium and a group of community film makers to make the films which were projected onto a big screen during the Bristol Festival of Nature (3-4 June) and seen by thousands.
The films - part of a project entitled Think or Swim? - can be seen on the Natural History Consortium's website (URL below).
Kate, a student placement at CSE at the time, was impressed by the pupils' knowledge and dedication. "We packed a tremendous amount of work into just a few weeks, with the children exploring the issues of climate change, the global impacts, local implications and possible solutions. The film-makers acted as mentors, and helped translate the groups' ideas about climate change and energy efficiency into the finished production."
Richard Dunning, CSE's Head of Education & Training said "The youngsters were given virtually free rein, with the minimum of intervention from us or any other group of adults. Inevitably this meant that factual inaccuracies crept into the films in one or two places, but they are very much the work of the kids themselves and a genuine expression of their views around the subject of climate change."
