CSE Launches Renewable Energy Advice Service for Householders

Helping householders in Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire install green energy systems.

28 November 2002

CSE has just launched its new service to provide householders in Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire with information about renewable energy.

The Renewable Energy Advice Service (REAS) offers expertise on all renewable energy technologies (solar water heating, photovoltaics, biomass heating, small-scale wind schemes, hydro power and ground source heat pumps) as well as information about green tariffs.

The service can provide information on:

  • which technologies might be appropriate for a particular household
  • how systems work and various options available
  • costs of systems and potential returns
  • contacting suppliers
  • sources of grants

The service also has a range of information sheets that are available free of charge.

Renewable Energy Advice Service manager Stephen Ward says: "Householders that want to install a renewable energy system have never had it so good. There are currently Government grants to cover 50% of the cost of installing domestic photovoltaic systems and early next year there will be a new grant towards the cost of installing solar hot water heating, wind, micro-hydro and biomass heating systems. The REAS is here to help ordinary householders to take advantage of this golden opportunity to do something positive for the environment."

The Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire REAS is one of just six pilot services set up throughout the UK by the Energy Saving Trust.
